Featuring 20 artists from the DC-area creative community and beyond, the exhibition runs from March 30 to April 8 in Dupont Circle and coincides with Dupont Circles First Friday Art Walk.
Washington Hilton will host Reckoning with Bloom, a contemporary art exhibition featuring the work of 20 artists, from Monday, March 30 through Wednesday, April 8, in celebration of Washington, DCs Cherry Blossom season. The exhibition is curated by Niyah Smith and Madison King and includes artists from Studio Gallery and other creative communities.
Bringing together painting, sculpture, projection, photography, jewelry, and mixed-media works, the exhibition explores themes of transformation, renewal, and personal evolution, concepts inspired by the symbolism of the cherry blossom itself.
Washington Hilton will open the exhibition to both hotel guests and the local community, inviting visitors to experience a dynamic collection of contemporary works from emerging and established artists connected to the Washington, DC arts community.
We are proud to showcase Reckoning with Bloom here at Washington Hilton. This exhibit allows us to celebrate the creativity that thrives in Dupont Circle and to welcome our neighbors and guests into an experience that reflects the beauty and energy of the Cherry Blossom season, said Kenneth Jarka, general manager, Washington Hilton. Supporting local artists is an essential part of strengthening our community and were honored to provide a platform for their talent to shine.
Special Event: Dupont Circle First Friday Art Walk
On Friday, April 3, Washington Hilton will participate for the first time in the Dupont Circle First Friday Art Walk, a monthly cultural event where neighborhood galleries host extended hours, exhibitions, artist talks, and community gatherings.
As part of the evenings programming, visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to attend an Artist Talk, offering insights into the creative processes and themes explored by the participating artists.
About the Exhibition
In Japan, cherry blossoms are traditionally celebrated through Hanami, the ritual of gathering beneath blooming trees whose beauty is inseparable from their impermanence. This concept of fleeting beauty and renewal serves as the conceptual foundation for Reckoning with Bloom.
The exhibition reflects on the tension between beauty and brevity, emergence and release, inviting viewers to contemplate cycles of personal growth, vulnerability, reinvention, and transformation through a diverse range of artistic mediums.
