Riggs Washington DC
Riggs Washington DC sits in the former home of Washington D.C.’s Riggs National Bank. Located in the capital’s Penn Quarter neighborhood, the 121,000 square foot property features 181 residential guest rooms and suites, an expansive restaurant and café, a subterranean cocktail bar, and rooftop event space, that also serves as a seasonal Rooftop Terrace Bar. Riggs Washington DC is the first U.S. hotel from international hospitality company Lore Group – behind the iconic and award-winning Pulitzer Amsterdam and Sea Containers London.
Built in 1891, the landmarked building is one of the last few Richardsonian Romanesque Revival-style builds still standing in the city. Known as the “Bank of Presidents” throughout the early 20th century, twenty-three U.S Presidents banked at Riggs, which was then advertised as the most important bank in the most important city in the world.
During its first year, Riggs Washington DC has accumulated a Four Diamond recognition, ranked top 2 hotel in DC by Trip Advisor, deemed "Top 5 hotel restaurants and bars in the World, and top "best new hotels in the world" by Conde Nast Traveler, Best cocktail bars in 2020 by Forbes, No. 3 hotel in D.C. by Conde Nast Travelers Reader's Choice Awards, Best New Bar in America by Tale of the Cocktail's Spirited Awards, Best Designed Hotel by the International Hotel & Property Awards for under 200 rooms - and so on.
