Riggs Washington DC
Riggs Washington DC sits on a prominent corner in downtown, Penn Quarter neighborhood. Once home to the Riggs National Bank, “the Bank of Presidents”, the property now holds a place on the National Register of Historic Places.
Having been rejuvenated over the past two decades, the Penn Quarter neighborhood now boasts a variety of entertainment and commercial establishments including The National Portrait Gallery, the Capital One Arena, luxury shopping at CityCenterDC, Ford’s Theatre, Chinatown and a growing list of restaurants, and bars.
Riggs features 181 guest rooms and suites. Playful nods to its banking history include the minibar ‘safe’ which is complimented by soft, residential touches including bespoke wallpaper by Voutsa. The Hotel will be home to the Riggs Suite, (the original board room), and specialty suites that pay homage to some of the most eclectic First Ladies of Washington D.C.
An all-occasion restaurant with a menu featuring classic dishes with a contemporary twist, Café Riggs serves all day from the comfort of the bar, dining room and café, influenced by the grandeur of European brasseries. Riggs lower level – once the original bank vault – will introduce an international, award-winning mixologist to the US market with an original cocktail bar concept that plays on the history of the cultural exchange in America.
