Joy Oladokun

Joy Oladokun pairs a clear, soulful voice with candid songwriting that moves between folk, pop and R&B. Drawing on her perspective as a queer Nigerian American, she writes about identity, faith, grief and the search for hope without losing sight of tenderness or humor. Her NPR Tiny Desk (Home) set brought that approach into focus with “if you got a problem,” “taking the heat” and “i see america”; her 2026 album Hope Is A Heavy Thing adds new chapters to that deeply personal catalog. Oladokun’s songs invite listeners into difficult questions with warmth, vivid storytelling and melodies that linger.
