Just a short walk from the Omni Shoreham, the Smithsonian National Zoo offers a uniquely DC experience: a world-class zoo with free entry, dedicated to wildlife conservation. Marvel at the giant pandas (on view January 2025), explore diverse exhibits featuring over 1,500 animals and enjoy scenic walking paths that make the zoo a blend of relaxation and education—all in the heart of Rock Creek Park.

Located in Dupont Circle, The Phillips Collection is America’s first modern art museum, founded in 1921 by collector Duncan Phillips to promote innovative art. Explore outside Connecticut Ave

If you are looking to explore outside of the Connecticut Ave Campus, getting around the city is seamless. Use DC’s accessible public transportation options, such as metro or bus, or choose to walk to your destination. Pack more into your journey by traveling along these streets and making stops along the way. 

 

14th Street NW 

Head east toward Logan Circle and 14th Street to explore a street packed with lively restaurants and shops. Try the Cuban flavors of the Colada Shop or Mexican bites at Mi Vida. Go a block further to a DC favorite, Ben’s Chili Bowl, for a delicious half-smoke. 

 

Rock Creek Park Trails 

Explore the trails of Rock Creek Park, a rustic expanse of 1,754-acres. The park includes Pierce Mill, Art Barn gallery, nature center, riding stables, tennis courts, a golf course, 30 picnic areas, playing fields and an extensive network of trails for walking, jogging and cycling.
