Washington Nationals

Washington Nationals Baseball Game at Nationals Park - Activities in Washington, DC

How to Celebrate the World Champion Nationals in Washington, DC

The Fall Classic lived up to its name as the Nationals Finished the Fight in Game 7 of the World Series. Here's how you can get in on the fun.

The nation’s capital has baseball fever, as the hometown Washington Nationals defeated the Houston Astros in their first World Series in franchise history. During the season, the Nationals found themselves at 12 games under .500, but persevered due to their mantra to #StayInTheFight. The team overcame great odds to claw their way to the Wild Card, a single-game playoff. After the first of many improbable comebacks, from the Wild Card game against the Brewers to the NLDS against the Dodgers to the NLCS against Cardinals, the team adjusted its motto to #FinishTheFight. And that's exactly what they did in Game 7 of the World Series in Houston on Oct. 30, 2019. Relive the magic season, hop on the bandwagon and celebrate the world champion Nationals in Washington, DC.

Behold the stunning Nationals Park, the baseball mecca where the 2019 world champion Washington Nationals play. Fans making a visit can snap a selfie in front of the ballpark, ideally in Nationals gear (more on that below). During the World Series, the ballpark hosted games 3-5, but it really came alive during the wild watch parties held during all four road games, all of which the Nats won. Mark your calendar for the 2020 MLB season, when the Nationals will defend their title.

02

Pick up world champion merch from the team store

While you can't get into the ballpark without tickets to a game, you can visit the official team store throughout the year. You can find the store at Center Field Plaza to score everything from official world champion Nationals hats and shirts to replica and official player jerseys like World Series MVP Stephen Strasburg and breakout star slugger Juan Soto. Store hours are Mondays through Fridays between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays between 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed on Sundays.

03

Dive deep into the national pastime in the nation’s capital

Seeing a Nationals game is far from the only way to engage with baseball in the District. There are also gorgeous statues outside the ballpark, exciting and historic museum exhibits at places like the Newseum and the National Museum of African-American History and Culture and more.

04

Explore the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood

The area surrounding Nationals Park, known as Capitol Riverfront, has blossomed into one of the most exciting neighborhoods in the city. Bars like Bluejacket and The Salt Line, owned by the Nationals cornerstone infielder Ryan Zimmerman, aren't just busy on game day, they're also popular year-round. Check out our guide to dining in the neighborhood.
