Date Nights DC Itinerary: A Box of Chocolates
Hold hands as you stroll by the White House and Lafayette Square. While you’re at it, light a candle for peace and love. Maybe scream “Jenny!” across the Reflecting Pool (but don’t wade in) just like Forrest Gump did.
Pick up a box of chocolates (and some hot cocoa) from sophisticated chocolate boutique Co. Co. Sala to share the next morning while you watch the sunrise from the steps of the Jefferson Memorial. Choose from specialty flavors such as salted caramel or dark chocolate with vanilla bean marshmallows.
DC doesn’t have a Bubba Gump Shrimp Company outpost…we’ve got something much better. Make reservations at Acadiana for amazing Louisiana-style barbecued shrimp (named a USA Today top 25 dish) with garlic butter, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce and warm bread.
Check into the romantic, historic Morrison-Clark Inn situated in a 19th-Century Victorian mansion and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The full-service hotel includes Southern touches, including a courtyard, private balconies and tranquil veranda.
