Date Nights DC Itinerary: Grandma Rules

If you’re giving mom and dad a break from the kids (or stealing some precious moments with your little angels), hop on board a Big Bus sightseeing tour. The kids will love riding the open-top bus past DC’s most famous landmarks; you’ll love resting your feet. The lower deck of the bus is heated for cooler days.

From there, ride down to the National Mall. The National Museum of Natural History wins raves from grandparents and grandkids alike for the stunning (and supposedly cursed!) Hope Diamond and the mysterious Eternal Life in Ancient Egypt exhibit. The National Air and Space Museum, with its planetarium, IMAX movies and aircraft displays in the main lobby, is also always a sure fire hit with the kids.

For dinner, make your way to the Penn Quarter for a family-friendly meal of epic pasta portions at Carmine’s.

Call it a night at the Embassy Suites Washington, DC Convention Center, known for its spacious two-bedroom suites and lavish complimentary breakfast buffet.
