Date Nights DC Itinerary: Skating with the Stars
Everyone loves a sweetheart on skates. Dorothy Hamill set the gold standard in ‘76 but she was not the first. That honor belongs to Sonja Henie and you can hunt for her portrait at the National Portrait Gallery.
Head down Seventh Street and hit up Carmine’s for a world-class carbo-loading session. They serve crowd-pleasing portions of Italian-American classics like spaghetti with meatballs. Life is zesty!
Walk to the National Mall and get ready to Lutz. The National Gallery of Art’s Sculpture Garden Ice Rink is especially romantic at night. The lights are twinkly. The music is soft. The chocolate is hot. Glide. Hold hands. Repeat.
Zip to Foggy Bottom on Metro and rest for a while at the River Inn. Some of the rooms have small kitchenettes. Pack a few groceries at the nearby Whole Foods and stay for a week.
