Distinguished Speakers in Classical Music
Renée Fleming is one of the most highly acclaimed singers of our time, performing on the stages of the world’s great opera houses and concert halls. Honored with five Grammy Awards and the U.S. National Medal of Arts, she has sung for momentous occasions from the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony to the Diamond Jubilee Concert for Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace. In 2014, she brought her voice to a vast new audience when she became the first classical artist ever to sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. In December 2023, she was one of five recipients of the Kennedy Center Honors.
Ms. Fleming also is a prominent advocate for awareness of the impact of music and the creative arts on health and neuroscience, and author of Music and Mind: Harnessing the Arts for Health and Wellness.
Please join us as Ms. Fleming discusses the vast potential of the creative arts – music, dance, and synchronous movements – to sooth, comfort and connect us to each other, and thereby promote health and well-being across all cultures, religions, and races.
The program will include a book signing at the end for guests who bring their own copies of Ms. Fleming’s book to the event.
