SYTA Annual Conference (Aug. 9-13, New York, NY)

The Student & Youth Travel Association (SYTA) hosted its annual conference and the team held 36 pre-set appointments with tour operators in the global youth and student travel market.

Virtuoso Travel Week (Aug. 10-16, Las Vegas, NV)

DDC attended Virtuoso Travel Week for the first time. A new preferred partner destination within the Virtuoso network, the team participated in 64 matched appointments with luxury travel agents, held meetings with luxury tour operators and joined education sessions and networking opportunities. 

Destination DC Mexico Sales & Media Mission (Aug. 18-22, Mexico City, Mexico)
Attendees: Elliott Ferguson, Melissa Riley, Letizia Sirtori, Patricia Najar, Miriam Chovanec, Emily Bates, Claire Deegan
DDC’s first Mexico mission will include a WorldPride-themed consumer activation, a grand event for trade and media clients, interviews with trade and consumer media, an exclusive experience for luxury trade clients and one-on-one meetings with marketing and trade partners. 

Fall Fun in DC Webinar (Aug. 22, Virtual)

VE Manager Georgia Lucas will be joined by DC JazzFest Marketing and Communications Consultant Josh Brown to highlight DCJazzFest’s 20th anniversary celebration. Japan Trade Rep FAM (Aug. 25-28, Washington, DC)

The Global Tourism team will welcome Marjorie Dewey, CEO and Kyoko Okabe, Account Manager of Connect Worldwide Japan, DDC’s new representation agency in Japan. During this visit we will familiarize our reps with our destination so they can effectively sell DC to the Japanese market.

CONNECT Marketplace (Aug. 27-29, Milwaukee, WI)
Attendees: Nick Price, Holly Rattanakone & DDC staff
CONNECT Marketplace will host its annual trade show. The Sports Team has confirmed 40 client appointments and will host a joint reception with Convention Sales & Services.

DCJazzFest Tabling (Aug. 31 – Sept. 1, Washington, DC)
Attendees: Lindsay Hill, Jennifer Porter & DDC staff
The Visitor Experience team will be on hand at The Wharf to provide maps, guides and information to attendees of DC JazzFest on the Transit Pier.
