Visit Washington, DC at the Sumida Jazz Festival on Saturday, October 19 –  Sunday, October 20, 2024!

cherry blossom-inspired booth for live tunes from DC jazz artists, a photo op with the

Lincoln Memorial and a chance to win fun prizes.

 

Special performances by two leading jazz artists traveling from Washington, DC will

take place on both days:

Sunday, October 20: 12:45 PM – 1:15 PM

 

Performers: 

Sonny Sumter

President and CEO of the DC Jazz Festival, a non-profit service organization established in 2004 to bring jazz-related cultural and educational programs to the nation's capital. As a professional vocalist, Sumter has performed at top festivals, concert venues, and clubs both in the U.S. and abroad, winning numerous awards.
 

Chris Grasso

The musical director of Sharon Clark, the most in-demand jazz singer in Washington DC, and has also performed with numerous famous vocalists and at prestigious venues and festivals in the U.S. and abroad.

Important Traveler Information

  • All Nippon Airways and United Airlines offer daily nonstop flights between Haneda and Washington Dulles International Airport 
  • Time difference:
    • Washington, DC is about 13 hours behind Japan and is in the Eastern Time Zone
  • Climate:
    • When visiting Washington, DC, expect hot, humid summers with temperatures often reaching the 80s°F (27-32°C), and cold winters, with occasional snow and temperatures dipping into the 30s°F (around 0°C). Spring and fall are mild and pleasant, making them ideal for outdoor activities. Rain is possible year-round, so packing a light jacket or umbrella is a good idea.
  • Visa + Passport requirements specific for Japanese travelers:
    • No visa is required for business and sightseeing within 90 days.
    • However, ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) and IC passport are required.
    • Passport must be valid for at least 90 days from the date of entry
