Marine Band Chamber Orchestra at Library of Congress
Join “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band Chamber Orchestra for a survey of American music for chamber orchestra as part of the Library of Congress’s America 250 celebration. Drawing on the Music Division’s extensive collections, the program includes American musical treasures from the Library’s archives including works by Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber and Ruth Crawford Seeger. Fans of contemporary orchestral music will enjoy the newest work from composer Kenji Bunch, E pluribus, commissioned by the Marine Chamber Orchestra in celebration of the 250-year anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. To celebrate this milestone, Bunch searched for folk songs that existed in America contemporaneously with the Declaration and compiled them into a new, celebratory work.
This concert is free, but tickets are required.
