Following a memorable 2017 solo debut at the BBC Proms
Jamal Aliyev, cello
Fazil Say, piano
Jamal Aliyev's musicality and sumptuous tone have made him one of the most sought-after cellists of his generation. The 2022-2023 season brings him to the U.S. for the first time, for performances with a good friend and mentor, the distinguished pianist and composer Fazil Say. Collaborations on several special projects this fall include a recording of Say's cello concerto Şahmeran and his "Four Cities" sonata, a journey through a quartet of Turkish cities with distinct and vivid cultures: Sivas, Hopa, Ankara and Bodrum.
Part of our celebration marking the 225th anniversary of Schubert's birth.
