Markus Lüpertz: Threads of History

This Weekend
Daily, Now - September 3, 2017
All Day

The exhibition includes important examples from his “dithyrambic” pictures and his provocative paintings of German motifs.  The exhibition is curated by Phillips Director Dorothy Kosinski in close collaboration with the artist and Michael Werner.  Markus Lüpertz coincides with the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden's Markus Lüpertz: Threads of History (May 24–September 10), an in-depth exploration of the artist's revealing early work. Together, the two presentations form Lüpertz’s first major US museum retrospective.
