Find New Nonstop Air Service at Washington, DC-Area Airports

Check out new nonstop air service via the three major airports in the Washington, DC region.

The ease of travel continues to benefit DC’s business and leisure travelers alike. Transformative public transportation initiatives such as the highly anticipated Metrorail extension to Washington Dulles International Airport and other airport renovations contribute to DC’s premier public transport network.

 

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)

Located just across the Potomac River in Virginia, Reagan National Airport is the closest airport to DC, offering over 95 nonstop flights to various destinations. The airport is accessible via its own Metro stop on the Blue and Yellow lines. In 2021, a $1 billion investment by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) called “Project Journey” will add new security checkpoints and a 14-gate concourse to replace busing operations at Reagan National Airport.

New Domestic Routes

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)

Dulles International Airport, also operated by MWAA, offers travelers 45 percent more nonstop destinations than any other airport in the region with over 85 nonstop domestic destinations and more than 55 nonstop international destinations. The Metrorail’s Silver Line is expected to extend to Dulles International Airport in 2020, providing a convenient, economical connection between the Virginia airport and Washington, DC. In the meantime, the airport continues to add more retail, shopping and refreshed concessions, as well as a new United Airlines Polaris lounge to enhance the customer experience. 

New Domestic Routes
Dulles International Airport welcomed new domestic nonstop air service to Ogdensburg (May 2019) and Traverse City (June 2019) and will add direct flights to Sarasota and Fort Myers later this year (October 2019).

New International Routes
New international nonstop flights have launched from destinations including Tel Aviv on United Airlines (May 2019), Rome on Alitalia, Cairo on EgyptAir and Lisbon on TAP Air (June 2019). Find out more information about all nonstop flights.

 

Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)

Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport is approximately 32 miles from DC, near Baltimore, Md. The airport is accessible via a MARC train route that picks up and drops off at Union Station in Northeast DC and costs $7 each way. The airport offers over 80 nonstop domestic destinations and 13 nonstop international destinations.

New Domestic Routes
Recently added destinations arriving at BWI include Charlotte and Durham via Spirit Airlines, and Denver and Orlando operated by Frontier Airlines.
