Mosaic Theater Company Presents: The Till Trilogy: Benevolence

May 23, 2020 - June 21, 2020
Starting: 08:00 PM

The now-legendary story of Emmett “Bo” Till is believed by many to be the start of the modern civil rights movement of the 1950s and remains one of the most pivotal incidents in a monumental era. Made possible by a generous grant from The Roy Cockrum Foundation.

By Ifa Bayeza

Directed by Talvin Wilks

PART III. BENEVOLENCE

The Trilogy’s rousing conclusion irises in on the more intimate impact of Emmett’s abduction and murder on two couples in Money, Mississippi: Caroline Bryant, her husband Roy, and twin brother Ray—leaping forward 50 years to the partial recantation of Caroline’s testimony—along with Clinton and Beulah Melton, witnesses to the murder, whose lives are put in danger because of the information they possess. With scenes of Medgar Evers filing field reports to the NAACP.

“Bayeza captures the powerful truths at the heart of the story, creating a soaring work of music, brilliant poetry and theatricality.”

DC Theatre Scene

”In its intimate, domestic settings, it achieves an epic scale.”

Star Tribune

Additional funding for The Till Trilogy is provided by the CrossCurrents Foundation in support of Community Conversations.
