Celebrate Ghana and African Culture: Africa Cup Match, Festival, and More at Audi Field
Now in its second year, we will once again be highlighting the Republic of Ghana, with D.C. United hosting Asante Kotoko S.C. for the Africa Cup match. The game will be played on Saturday, October 12th at 6 PM at Audi Field in Washington, DC.
The week will open with a special reception at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art on Monday, October 7th. This event will help kick-off the week, and celebrate 60 years of the collection, conservation, stufy and exhibition of Africa's arts across time and media. Throughout the week, we have confirmed the inaugural African Restaurant Week in Washington, DC. We will celebrate the best in cuisine, restaurants and chefs from African/Black diaspora, supporting small businesses including cafes, bars and eateries in DC. A full list of participating restaurants will be available soon, including ways to engage and promote.
This year we will also be incorporating an Investment Forum with two key panel discussions on investing in Africa, and sports ownership. The forum will take place at Audi Field on October 12th, before the match, followed by a VIP Reception. The forum is invitation only and will be forwarded separately.
For the first time, a pre-game festival will take place outside of Audi Field's gates prior to the match on Saturday, October 12th. This family friendly event will be free of charge and highlight African food, culture, music and dancing.
