Doubt: A Parable
John Patrick Shanleys Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece currently resides at one of DCs most prestigious theatre venues. Doubt is set in the Bronx circa 1964, where a magnetic young priest shows an interest in his Catholic schools first and only black student, raising feverish suspicions in Sister Aloysius, the schools cold and calculating principal. Is she protecting her parish from a monster, or is pride her primary motivation? This tense and contemplative thriller was adapted into an Oscar-nominated film in 2008, and its powerful and timeless narrative remains especially impactful in a live setting. Studio Theatre mainstay Sarah Marshall stars as Sister Aloysius.
