Showcasing Comedians of Color
Because They’re Funny (BTF), is a comedy festival from the producers of the American Black Film Festival showcasing BIPOC comedic talent. Now in its second year, the festival is dedicated to promoting entertainment content in the comedy genre that features people of color, as well as propelling a new generation of diverse comedians to stardom. Created for anyone who likes to laugh, BTF’s lineup includes headline shows, the “Breakout Comedian of the Year Competition”, panels, comedy classes, networking events, and the “BTF Cares” Charity Fundraiser.
After being recognized as one of USA Today’s top 10 new events and attracting over 5,200 attendees in its inaugural year, BTF will return to Washington, DC, from September 27-29 featuring comedians Deon Cole and Leslie Jones. Festival events will be held at The Anthem along the Wharf and other city venues.
BTF is produced by NICE CROWD and presented in partnership with Events DC, the official convention and sports authority for the District of Columbia.
