Hispanic Heritage Celebration



Come learn about the importance of the Bible in the Spanish-speaking world.

Join Museum of the Bible on Saturday, October 1, 2022, for a special day celebrating Hispanic heritage and the history of the Bible.


For the inaugural Hispanic Heritage Celebration, Museum of the Bible and the Embassy of the Dominican Republic have partnered to present the history and impact of the Bible in the Hispanic community. Be sure to visit and immerse yourself in the different sounds, flavors, colors, and images of this vibrant community during this day of celebration.

Local Hispanic Artisan Market


10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Featured products include Hispanic silk scarves, jewelry, art, hand-made soap, edibles, souvenirs, and more! Visit our artisans and engage in learning more about locally made products. 


Education Station


11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. 
Interact with Museum of the Bible educators as you complete special activities related to Hispanic heritage.  


Presentation by Dr. Juan Hernández Jr.  


11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. 
"The Triumph of the Vernacular: The Rise, Dissemination, and Transformative Power of the Bible in Spanish"

Dr. Juan Hernández Jr. will chronicle the origin and history of the translation of the Bible into Spanish, disclose the manuscript traditions that support its texts, and highlight the enduring influence of the Bible in Hispanic communities of faith beyond the Spanish peninsula, including its usage within the faith communities he serves.

Join us to sample several traditional Hispanic dishes! 


Hispanic Hymns and Folk Songs 


12:15–1:15 p.m. 
Experience the different caliente rhythms of the Dominican Republic, like Bachata, Quisqueya, and others, with a Hispanic artist! Presented by Dulce Ruiz.
